Fort Arabesque and no place else in Hurghada. 2. Re: Makadi bay or sahl hasheesh for snorkeling. You've been spoilt in Marsa but I agree Fort arabesque in makadi has an excellent house reef if your choosing between the two resorts. The best place for snorkelling in my opinion is Sharm el Naga, worth a day trip.

I just snorkel and it sounds as if the reef is great there. Any suggestions on getting there and back from Makad.

12 reviews 17 helpful votes Marsa Alam or Makadi Bay snorkelling which is the best. 13 years ago Save For the last two years have been to the Iberotel Lamaya Resort Marsa Alam which is brilliant for snorkelling with myriads of different fish together with dolphins and turtles.

The airport is around 45 minutes transfer from Makadi Bay, 60 minutes from Soma Bay and 2 hours from El Quesir. Marsa Alam airport has direct flights from Gatwick and Manchester at certain times of year, with hotels being 15-45 minutes from the airport. Marsa Alam can also be reached from Hurghada airport in around 3 hours.

They are right compared to Hurgarda it is very quiet and more similar to Makadi , I will favour Marsa and have a snorkelling other half (OH) , a lot of the hotels in marsa have access to their reefs via a jetty which does mean wind can be a factor ie they will close in high winds.
